Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the employment problems of pre-service teachers who
cannot be appointed. In the research, a descriptive study was conducted by using the case study
model, which is one of the qualitative research methods. The research data were obtained through
interviews with 10 teachers who were within the borders of Tokat province but were not appointed.
Semi-structured interview forms were used to collect data. The answers given by the participants to
the interview form were analyzed one by one and turned into a table in the computer environment.
The data obtained as a result of the interviews with the participants were analyzed with descriptive
data analysis, which is one of the qualitative data analysis techniques.
As a result of the research, pre-service teachers stated that they wanted to be appointed both as
teachers and from their own branches, and they did not want to work in precarious and night-time
working areas. Most of the teachers who are paid teachers mentioned that they are exposed to
permanent-paid discrimination and that they are affected psychologically in the working
environment. The majority of the teachers who participated in the interview stated that they did not
experience any economic anxiety while they were students and that they saw the full support of
their families. It has been observed that there are differences in the hopes of being appointed from
the prospective teachers, primary school teachers and teachers who graduated from different
branches. In addition, it was observed that the unemployment problem negatively affected their
emotions, thoughts and psychology in all of the participants.
