Abstract

In this study, the geographical and cultural characteristics of the Cappadocia region are mentioned
and the historical story of the Sinasos region in history is mentioned. Literature research was
conducted on the effects of the rights granted to the non-Muslim population after the 1924
Lausanne Exchange Agreement and the effect of the Ottoman Empire's Western-influenced status
on the housing structure in the region. The theoretical basis of this study is that in Henri Lefebvre's
book "The Production of Space", which was first published in 1974, space bears the traces of a
social period of its own and is produced, hence the spatial triad theory. Lefebvre defines the trio of
designed, perceived and lived space as factors that are active in the production of space without
separating them from each other. The aim of the study is to read and evaluate the cultural
experiences of two different cultural structures on the concept of housing in the Sinasos region
within the framework of Lefebvre's space triad theory.
