Abstract

The main research area of the article is devoted to the halls for audience of palace complexes, which
are considered the residence of rulers in the Islamic world. Although they make a mark on the
history of architecture under different names, depending on the location and period the divankhana
performing the same function and has found its solution with various architectural forms in the
Islamic world. This architectural structure can be traced in the history of the Islamic world since the
reign of the Umayyads, continued during the reign of the Abbasids and spread to the palace
architecture of nations of the Islamic world and formed as the main building of government
residences.
Another feature of the Islamic palace complexes is the preference of a series of apsids and columns
in the interior of the Divankhana, the use of various decorations on the floor and interior of the hall,
and more spectacular design of the roof than the roofs of the other structures of the complex, which
are the proofs of this building's being the main building. Divankhana hall of the sultans, known by
different names in architecture for centuries courtroom or Honor Court (Umayyad Arab Caliphate
and Abbasid architecture), Audience Hall and Divan-ı Humayun (Ottoman architecture in Turkey),
Diwan-e-Aam and Diwan-e-Khas (Indian architecture) Although the Divankhane (Azerbaijani
architecture) is known by more different names from foundation to its formation, unfortunately
some of them have been erased without a trace in history.
The courthouses were not only a place of discussion about the solution of administrative problems,
but also the reception halls of the guests and the public. In all the palace complexes examined, the
architecture of the Divankhane halls was designed with different ornaments and decorations than
the palace buildings. In addition, by using the symbols of the religion of Islam in the form and
decoration of the Divanhane, it emphasizes the importance of these structures and carries
mysterious information to the present day.
