This study aims to examine the pianist’s role, technical requirements, and musical responsibilities in instrumental and vocal accompaniment. The first chapter presents accompaniment styles of the Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods, supported with musical examples. The second chapter discusses the thecnical requirements that significantly influence the pianist’s role in accompaniment, adressing key elements such as score reading, transposition and improvisation. The importance of dicipline and sense of responsibility in communication among musicians is emphasized, highlighting their impact on performance. The third chapter analyzes the structural differences between string and wind instruments and outlines essential consideration for effective accompaniment. Differences between vocal and instrumental performance and their reflections on piano accompaniment are also examined. The importance of slow and detailed preparation before duo rehersals, the pianist’s command on the upper line and the benefits of exploring different interpretations are underlined. This guide is intended to provide direction for both Professional and amateur pianists in their accompaniment practice.
