Abstract

As the ancestral (native) seed, which is our national wealth, has become a subject that has been frequently emphasized in the media and society in recent years, it has been determined that the concept and practices of "Ancestor Seed" have been neglected or implemented throughout the science course curricula as a result of the examination of the curricula that have been implemented and are being implemented at the secondary education level in our country. It was observed that it was not included as it should be. This issue, which is very important in raising individuals' awareness and promoting domestic production, has been neglected and its education has been very late. Ata means the seed will come. It is essential for our country to include this education in the Science curriculum in order not to be left behind in the face of great economic powers in the future. Based on this, the aim of this study is to examine the knowledge and thoughts of science teacher candidates about the ancestral seed, which is our national wealth, the importance of its place in the curriculum and their opinions about activity suggestions. Semi-structured interview forms were used to determine the opinions of teacher candidates. “What does ancestor (native) seed mean to you?”, “What are your thoughts on including the subject of ancestor (native) seed in the Science curriculum?”, “What are your suggestions for activities to be used in teaching ancestor seed? Which teaching strategy, method and technique would be appropriate to use? Themes and sub-themes were tried to be created based on the data obtained by asking the questions. At the end of the study, the research findings were discussed in the light of the findings in the literature and some suggestions were made, emphasizing that the ancestral seed should have an education and that education on this subject should be given at an early age.
