Abstract

This study aims to assess the work performed in a textile workshop operating in the Thrace Region from an occupational health and safety (OHS) perspective through field observation. The study observed workstations, equipment usage, and environmental conditions on the production line, and no external intervention was made. Positive findings included the appropriate positioning of emergency exit signs, adequate lighting, accessibility of fire extinguishers, mechanical ventilation, and a metal detector system. However, the lack of machine guards, lack of PPE, non-ergonomic working conditions, lack of hearing protection despite noise, obstruction of fire extinguishers and walkways, unorganized fabric stacks, dangling electrical cords, and congestion at workstations. Photographic documentation of workflow conditions through field observation contributed to both reporting the current situation and identifying improvement priorities. However, because the method lacks quantitative measurement data, it was concluded that parameters such as noise, lighting, and air quality should be supplemented with complementary quantitative measurements for more accurate assessments.
